A tale of two letters
Both these letters, from the developer, were sent to Mayor and Council regarding the plans the City received on 24 June 2025
We are presenting a comparison of the two letters to reflect that in the first letter we see that OEZA’s (the developer) general lack of professionalism and high level of disrespect for the City process and staff. Our reading is that it was only later, when the developer realised this might negatively impact the City’s decision making, that OEZA tried to change the tone in the hope of a more favourable response.
The first letter, dated 12 June 2025, was removed from the development tracker and replaced with the second letter.
The replacement letter is dated 4 July 2025 but the City added the following stamp: “Received Date: August 08, 2025 — Deemed date: June 24, 2025”
In addition to the significantly different tone between the two letters – despite both referring to the same plans – we note the following:
- Why was the original letter removed from the development tracker? Only indication of its existence is the note “Replaced previous letter to mayor and council on the development tracker as per direction from Rob”
- The 2nd letter, although dated July 4, was not received by the City until August 8, over a month later
